The Bothy is situated at the Spittal of Glenshee
in the foothills of the Grampians, just off the A93 between Braemar
and Blairgowrie and therefore it makes an ideal base for anyone
who wants to tour Scotland – Glamis Castle, Scone Palace,
Pitlochry, the now famous shopping experience of The House of Bruar
and all the major cities are within two hours drive. Royal Deeside
and Balmoral Castle are only thirty minutes away, over the once
notorious Devils Elbow road.
Hillwalkers will love this cottage with twenty one Munros within
a fifteen mile radius, including Cairnwell, Beinn Lutharn Mhor and
Glas Maol, whilst some may enjoy the lower level walks (e.g. The
Cateran Trail – the route used by the cattle rustlers in the
15th century).

As well as a great variety of wildlife which abound
in the area, ski-ing, mountain biking, stalking, fishing and tennis
are all available locally, as is one of Britain’s highest
golf courses, set beside the Dalmunzie Hotel – Scotland’s
first genealogy hotel with library facilities for those keen to
trace their ancestors. Alternatively, simply sit on the veranda
of this wonderful little holiday house, enjoy the peace and marvel
at the view.
